Methods
Flatbed Scanning for Prints
Unframed original prints and artwork up to 12×18” can be scanned on our high-quality graphics scanner. We scan at 300 dpi to your final print size, make tonal corrections and do up to 5 minutes of dust-spotting, scratch removal, etc. Older or damaged prints may require additional charges for major color correction, scratch and spot removal and other enhancement. We will discuss specific issues with you and provide an estimated cost for each order. If you require a very exacting color match to your original, see our page on Art Reproductions.
Scans from prints start at $15 each. We can provide a quote on quantity discounts, and for larger, higher resolution scans on request.
Flatbed Scanning for Film
Color or black and white negative, slides, transparencies are scanned at 300 dpi at your final print size, tonally corrected and dust-spotted. We can handle odd-sized and antique formats up to 8” x 10”. Older films may require additional charges for major color correction, scratch and spot removal and other enhancement. Generally for print output up to about 11×14. Drum scans are the choice for larger prints.
Film scans start at $10 per frame. We can provide a quote on quantity discounts, and for larger, higher resolution scans on request.
Studio Capture for Prints
Prints larger than 12”x18″, framed prints and artwork, situations requiring polarized lighting are photographed with a 45 megapixel camera under specialized lighting. We can capture from originals that are up to about 30″x40”.
Studio Captures start at $25-45 each. Older or damaged prints may require additional charges for major color correction, scratch and spot removal and other enhancement.
