River City Silver exemplifies a rare discipline: craftsmanship in a digital environment. We address each order with the object of producing the best possible output. Each print, scan, painting and customer is unique and receives our close attention, care and respect and the benefits of our 50+ years of photographic experience. Rather than offering a dazzling array of bells and whistles, we focus on your images and print on a few select high-quality, archival print substrates.

Our History

River City Silver was started in 1980 by Hank Auderer as a Black and White processing and printing lab in the second story of his home. In 1984 RCS moved to a storefront, consolidating with Susan Ellington’s “The Copyworks” and adding E-6 slide film processing and related services.

From there, River City Silver added processes and services to become one of San Antonio’s premier full-service professional photo labs. We were the first in the region to offer digital scanning, digital printing and PowerPoint slide output in the late 1980’s. With a firm basis in traditional photographic processes, and as a part of the transitional forces that demanded high quality digital output, River City Silver’s foundation is solid.

We were sad to decommission our film processors over 10 years ago, but heartened that the quality of camera captures and print output has provided far better control and image quality overall. The tools have changed but our commitment remains the same: making great prints and happy customers!

I was in San Antonio in February doing work at ArtPace, and I sent stuff to you for printing. I found you all very knowledgable and reassuring. I was most impressed by the quality of your prints. In spite of shooting on fine resolution Technical Pan film, I felt that your scanner picked up all the detail of the film and your 30×40″ prints are second to none. Now that I am back home, I feel I can’t do without your services.
